Wow. I found a rosé that I like.
2004 Core Rosé, Santa Barbara County.
At Ferry Plaza Wine Merchants.
I am really surprised I like this. It’s not the rosé I have been looking for (Domaine Tempier Bandol Rosé) but I’ve never really liked rosés. I have trouble with whites; they can be hit and miss for me. Most make my tummy hurt, or some are just too cloying for my palate. I’ve found a few Chardonnays and Vioginers that I can stomach but rosé has always been something that I considered “ghetto wine.”
But this. This dances on my tongue. For some reason, despite the fact that I have a strong sense of smell and taste, I have a hard time “placing” tastes. It tastes like something, but I can’t put my finger on what exactly. Today I tasted some Tsar Nicoulai Truffle Whitefish Roe (with a Nicolas Feuillatte sparkling rosé) and it does taste like truffle, but it tastes like something else, and I can’t place it. Darn it.
